The unexpected winner of Liet 2009. This band is a Pop academy project from Laurens van der Meulen, who has his own studio in Leeuwarden, the new lab of creativity in the capital of Frisia. The band plays Frisian indie rock.

Comming from Dublin and can be counted as one of the best kept secrets of the Irish music industry, so he says.
He will release his first cd on the 29th of October, two days before the Liet International festival. That CD and possibly his performance at Liet International should make an end to his relatively infamous music. Read more.
Sunrise non Secular
A young band wich are mostly inspired by bands like Runrig and the Macdonald Brothers (both from Scotland) and Paolo Nutini. Sunrise non Secular is ambitious. The last year they played at five Scotisch festivals like the Loch Lomond Folkfestival and the winter festival in Glasgow. Plus their first cd was released with a two week tour trough Scotland.

Zine
A singer from the city Nice in France. Zine sings in Provençal and in French. She makes her music with a combination of the traditional South French dance musik, with more modern day electronic influences. Read more.
Sovvalniks
The Sovvalniks were founded last year as a temporary project. Their goal was to turn modern Latgalian poetry into music. The project so far made ten songs with lyrics from four Latgalian poets. Four of their songs also have a music video. The Sovvalniks were so successful in Lettland that they continued as a successful life band with four members.Read more.
Dr. Drer & Cre Posse
Dr. Drer – synonym for Michele Atzori – is a important figure in the music scene from Sardinia. He not only participates in the music, he is also politically involved . He is active in a radical Sardinian party, that wants Sardinia to be completely independent. Dr. Drer is already a part of the colourful and lively music scene of Sardinia for about 15 years now. His music is a combination of Sardinian rap and ragamuffin, combined with elements from traditional Sardinian music. Read more
De fofftig Penns
is a young rapband from Berlin. The members all came from Bremen and surrounding areas and moved to the Berlin because of their studies. De Fofftig Penns make rap music in Low German, wich is quite new. Next to 50 Cent ( see their name ) they also name the Dutch rap group De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig as one of their greatest sources of inspiration. Read more.
Sattuma
A folk band from Petrozavodsk, the main capital of Karelia in the russian federation. (Karelia is the Russian Republik that’s right next to Finland and was in the pas a part of Finland. The minority speaks Karelic, a Finno-Ugric language.) Sattuma is a five men formation, that make folk music in the Karelian tradition. The band makes use of typical Karelian instruments to make their music. Read more.
Lino Straulino
Is the singer-songwriter from Friuli in the North-East of Italy. He recently won the first edition of the song festival SunS in his home country with the sensitive ballad Doman ( Friuli for tomorrow ). Lino Straulino has made then cd’s till now, all in the friulian language. He is inspired by folk, rock, protest songs an poetry. His lyrics are more than often poetic from nature. Read more.
