is a qualified pianist who took up the guitar and became a servillette scribbler by a matter of chance. His first official work was published in 2003 with the title of “La vida de alquiler” (Rented Life) (Autoedición, 2003). After presenting this in different parts of Spain, particularly in Asturias, he wrote and recorded songs for a new demo with the intention of publishing a second CD nationwide. DFX Records took an interest in him and reached an agreement for three albums, the first of which was published in October 2008, with the title of “Dudas y precipicios” (Doubts and precipices). In January 2009, after coming to an agreement with record label L’Aguañaz for bringing out an album entirely in the Asturian language, “La nada y tu” (You and Nothingness) came out, made up of ten songs with lyrics by today’s best Asturian poets. That same year “Dudas y precipicios” won him the AMAS award for Best Lyricist and the AMAS award for the Best Videoclip; “La nada y tu” won the RPA Critics prize for the Meyor Discu d’Autor (best singer-songwriter album) and the Premiu al Meyor Cantar 2008 (best song) for the title song of the album. He is currently presenting the works “Dudas y precipicios” and “La nada y tu”, which are reaping great success among both critics and public.

Alfredo Gonzalez – La nada y tu

Lletra: AntÛn GarcÌa
M·sica: Alfredo Gonz·lez

Cuando por ti venga la muerte
vendr· de la to mano, ciega,
gui·ndo-y los pasos un feble dolor.

Ser· como vistir de fiesta,
paxellu nuevu de domingo
que nun ser·s a quitar y·.

Ver·s un rostru nel espeyu,
solombra escuro de la muerte,
y tu nun vas saber quiÈn ye.

Nada habr· ente la nada y tu.

Anuncia un tiempu de derrota.
Pa quÈ preguntes, nun apielles
que naide habr· que te respuenda.

MaÒana vas salir tan ceo
que nun oir·s la voz del alba
que grita, llama y te xuxuria.

MaÒana vas salir tan ceo
que nun oir·s la voz del alba
que llora por ti y t’apodera.

Nada habr· ente la nada y tu.

Alfredo Gonzalez – You and Nothingness

When death comes for you,
it will come from your own hand, blindly,
its footsteps steered by gentle pain.

Like getting all dressed up,
in Sunday best
no longer possible to take off.

You’ll see a face in the mirror,
the dark shadow of death,
and you won’t know who it is.

Nothing between you and nothingness.

Announcing times of defeat.
Why bother asking? Why call out?
No-one will be there to answer.

Tomorrow you’ll be up and out so early
you won’t hear the voice of daybreak
crying out, calling you and whispering.

Tomorrow you’ll be up and out so early
you won’t hear the voice of daybreak
sobbing for you and overcoming you.

Nothing between you and nothingness.
