Liet 2010

Sweedske radio by Liet-dielnimmers

Swedish Radio P2 recently traveled to Scotland, the Principality of Asturias, Occitania, Friuli, Apulia, Friesland, Bremen, Latgalia, Karelia and Sápmi to visit the participants of Liet International 2009 in their home region. The hosts Petra Quiding and Helena Lopac have visited these regions and met musicians who sing in their mother tongue.

Musihkka brings the listeners exclusive gigs with talented musicians, often in intimate surroundings.– Some of the musicians played for us in their own kitchens, other arranged big concerts, says Helena Lopac.

The thought behind the programme is to provide a music experience that encourages the listeners to find out more. The programme can also be listened to on the website of P2 radio, streaming as well as on demand.
In order to find out more just check the website of Musihkka.

In the first episode they visit Scotland, which has a rich Scottish Gaelic music culture despite the fact that less and less people speak the language. The programme starts on Sunday 20 June on 19.00 hours PM. Petra Quiding and Helena Lopac will bring the listeners on a music trip through the minority cultures of Europe in ten one-hour programmes.

– The trip showed us an incredible amount of fantastic music and variation. But this music is rarely heard in the media since the languages are only understood by a limited amount of people. This makes it even harder for the languages to survive, says Petra Quiding, programme host and producer.

Troughout the summer Musihkka presents music from the following European nations:

* Scotland on the 20th of June
* Asturias on the 27th of June
* Occitania on the 4th of July
* Friûl in Italy on the 11th of July
* Puglia in the south of Italy on the 18th of July
* Friesland on the 25th of July
* Bremen in Germany on the 1st of August
* Latgalia in Latvia on the 8th of August
* Karelia in Russia on the 15th of August
and, last but not least, Sápmi (Lapland) on the 22nd of August.
