Congres
Parallel aan het Songfestival Liet International vindt het Partnership for Diversity congres plaats. Dit jaarlijkse congres wordt georganiseerd door het European Bureau for Lesser-Used Languages (EBLUL, Europees Buro voor Kleine Talen), samen met één van de lidstaat commissies. De Nederlandse lidstaatcommissie Europeesk Buro foar Lytse Talen (EBLT) werkt hierbij samen met het Mercator Europees Kenniscentrum voor Meertaligheid en Taalleren.
Hoofdthema van dit Engelstalige congres is “The challenging relationship between transmission of cultures and transmission of languages”. Dit wordt weergegeven in de drie onderwerpen:
(a) the role and responsibility of regional and local authorities towards the protection and promotion of RMLs and cultures,
(b) in how far cultural and linguistic rights can preserve and promote RMLs and cultures, and
(c) new trends in formal and informal transmission of cultures and languages.
Het congres vindt plaats op vrijdag 30 oktober 2009 in Ljouwert/Leeuwarden. Zaterdag 31 oktober is bestemd voor enige culturele activiteiten en natuurlijk het bijwonen van Liet International.
